Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp; 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing with Morishas Tours and Safaris
After breakfast at Machame Camp, the journey continues with a steady climb toward Shira Cave Camp. This section covers approximately 5 kilometers and takes about 4 to 6 hours, depending on your pace and weather conditions.

The trail gradually leaves the rainforest and enters the moorland zone, where the landscape opens up with fewer trees and more unique mountain vegetation such as giant heathers and volcanic rocks. As you gain altitude, you will enjoy stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and, on clear days, wide views across the Shira Plateau.

The hike includes some steeper sections, but the pace is kept slow to support proper acclimatization. This is an important day for your body to adjust to the altitude while enjoying the changing scenery.

Shira Cave Camp is located at about 3,840 meters above sea level. After arrival, you will have time to relax, enjoy a hot meal, and take in the beautiful surroundings before resting for the next stage of your climb.

Day 3: Shira Cave Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp; 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing with Morishas Tours and Safaris.
After breakfast at Shira Cave Camp, the trek continues east toward Lava Tower, an important acclimatization point on Mount Kilimanjaro. This stage covers about 10–11 kilometers and takes around 6 to 8 hours of hiking.

The trail moves through the alpine desert zone, where the landscape becomes more dry, rocky, and open with very little vegetation. As you climb higher to Lava Tower (about 4,600 meters), you may begin to feel the effects of altitude. This is a normal and important part of acclimatization, so the pace is slow and steady.

After reaching Lava Tower, you will have lunch and spend some time here to help your body adjust to the higher altitude. Then, the route descends down to Barranco Camp at about 3,950 meters. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy greatly improves your chances of reaching the summit successfully.

The descent to Barranco Camp offers beautiful views of valleys, glaciers, and the famous Barranco Wall. Upon arrival, you can relax, enjoy dinner, and take in one of the most scenic camps on the mountain.

This day is very important for acclimatization and offers a mix of challenge, learning, and stunning landscapes, making it one of the most memorable parts of the Machame Route with Morishas Tours and Safaris.

The environment is mostly alpine desert with very little vegetation, but the views are wide and breathtaking, making the journey enjoyable and rewarding.

Karanga Camp is located at about 4,035 meters above sea level and serves as an important stop before heading to base camp. After arrival, climbers can relax, enjoy a warm meal, and prepare for the next stage of the climb.

Along the way, climbers can enjoy incredible views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding mountain terrain. The environment becomes more dramatic and quiet, giving a true feeling of high-altitude adventure.

Barafu Camp is located at about 4,640 meters above sea level and is the last stop before the summit. Upon arrival, you will have an early dinner and take time to rest, as the summit climb usually begins around midnight.
